Greetings all y’all, and welcome to my first ever newsletter! 2020 has been a wild ride for everyone, and amidst all the tumult of COVID 19 and the 2020 Election, I decided to take the leap of faith to start my own business. Whoo, it’s been a wild ride.
First off, I would like to thank you all for your support so far! Sales have been made, there have been two successful giveaways, and hundreds of new followers have helped keep this fledgling dream alive!
Since launching the website on December 5th I have made a few changes:
Prices across the board have been lowered to make these quality yarns more accessible. If you haven’t looked at the store in the past week I highly recommend that you take a peek!
Gift cards are available in the Shop.
Kits (except for Sandes Garn) have been disassembled. Individual skeins are available to purchase!
Due to interest on Facebook and Instagram, I now ship to Canada!
My new year’s resolution for 2021 is to update this newsletter weekly to keep you all in the loop of all things Stashi! Be on the lookout for our van, which will be launching this upcoming Spring!
To welcome the new year use the code Bye2020 by January 3rd to receive 10% off your order!
I decided to go big or go home with the first-ever newsletter and am featuring two yarns, Gossamer and Fern! I first stumbled upon Chasing Rabbits Fiber Co. back in 2018 when driving back home from West Virginia. At the time, I wasn’t quite into neutral colorways- but something about Dawn Barker’s tonals captivated me. Since then I have been following her progress for years and now I am proud to be the first in Virginia to offer these exquisite yarns!
Gossamer is a lace weight yarn that is 72% Ultrafine Kid Mohair and 28% Silk. It is a dreamy yarn that would make exquisite airy accessories- and comes in 460 yard skeins at $27 each. The store currently has three colorways: Pink Sands, Ocean, and Wildwood.
Fern is a delicious fingering weight yarn that consists of 85% Superwash Merino and 15% Nylon. It is a fantastic workhorse that is ready for anything- from socks to sweaters and hats to cowls! I also currently carry this beauty in three colorways: Octobers, Antler, and Agua Fria. They come in 437 yard skeins at $25 each.
When I started conducting research to carry these yarns, I discovered that Dawn was a designer in her own right! Therefore I decided to highlight three of her fantastic designs that bring these two sister yarns together for amazing results.
1) Is anyone up for some Journal Knitting for 2021? If so, then Dawn’s Archive Loop is for you! This wonderful project uses 2 skeins of Fern with 1 skein of gossamer. Each day you ask your journal question, and depending on the answer you hold a skein of Gossamer in Tandem with Fern to record your answer in stitches. Dawn has left this project flexible, any period of time you choose!
2) I took a virtual class with Dawn and discovered that she is a huge fan of linen stitch, especially since it is a fantastic way to prevent pooling when working with hand-dyed yarns! The Kith & Kin Cowl will help make you an expert at this stitch, and only requires 1 skein of Gossamer and 1 skein of Fern!
3) The Fairlight Shawl utilizes slipped stitches to create a lush texturescape. It requires 2 skeins of Fern with 1 contrasting skein of Gossamer.
P.S. I still have plenty of Varpu Sweater Kits up for grabs if you are looking for a cozy project for the new year!
