"I wish you'd be, as dirty as my car. I could be your ride tonight. I may not be, oh yeah, worthy of your heart but I'll make you feel alright... So let go of wrong and right. Cause who wants, who wants, who wants to dance all night?"
These are the song the lyrics that went through my head this Sunday morning when Shelia of Urban Girl yarns asked what I would like to name the custom colorway for the June Summer Staycation kits.
As I initially pondered between boring names like "Stashi Pride" and "True Colors" the song by Studio Killers, Dirty Car popped into my head. Images of the vibrant colors in the music video flashed in my minds eye- and I realized that name would be perfect. Also, the fact that my car (AKA "Van Alpha") was chock full of yarn for all my weekend events also made the song quite fitting. Thus, I asked her to name it "Dirty Car", sent her a link to the song- and the rest is Stashi history!
Another serendipitous fact about this naming situation is that I have not heard of Studio Killers until last Thursday! I stumbled upon them after one of my friends on Facebook posted the Dirty Car music video in their feed. I was instantly smitten by the animation, bright colors, and soothing beat- not to forget that there finally is a song for those of us with messy cars!
For the uninitiated (such as myself less than a week ago) Studio Killers is a Finish-Danish-British virtual electropop band made up of four characters: vocalist Chubby Cherry, Keyboardist Goldie Foxx, DJ Dina Mink, and manager Bipolar Bear. All of their videos are animated and feature a colorful cast of characters. Along with Dirty Car, other songs that I can's stop jamming out to are:
-The "Girl Love" anthem Jenny ("Forget those Amigos")
-The Simone de Beauvoir mentioning All Men Are Pigs ("All men but me" making it clear that it's about one particularly piggish person.)
-The giggle inducing Ode to the Bouncer (I don't care what other people say- "It's useless to debate St. Peter at the gate made of protein milkshake and low carb intake" is just genius songwriting.)
So if you like dance/electronica/girl-power music/a good laugh give Studio Killers a listen!
As for this weekend I only have one event! I will be at Hooks and Hops at Intermission Beer Co. from 6pm to last call on Friday! Currently Saturday's Eat 66 market has been canceled by the venue due to worries about inclement weather.
I will also be making my next appearance at the Pop-Up on the Diamond on May 1st! Mark your calendars for one of Richmond's premier outdoor markets with over 50 vendors.
Now it's time for some announcements:
You can use the code April Showers for free shipping on webstore orders thru April 30th!
That's all everyone! Until next time stay Stashi!
